Jack’s profile shows a strong use of the predominantly positioning and controlling voices Advocate, Advise, Challenge, Evaluate, as well as Probe. The other controlling voice, Direct, is used moderately with the lesser used voices being Inquire, Diagnose and Articulate.

From the track profile it can be seen that Jack’s preferred choice is to use Advocate which is where he spends most time. There appears to then be a choice point of Advise and /or Challenge before moving on to Evaluate. This is the voice he then appears to use most before another choice point is reached and he may change approach to use either his exploring voices or articulate before moving to Direct. Of interest is the pattern of the choice point following evaluation where he might start to explore more or articulate the position.

My impression in his previous role as a senior executive in financial services with an operations background he was used to directing others and holding them and himself to account. Those voices of positioning and controlling would have served him well.

In the role of consultant to advise on improvement, he may want to consider using his lesser used voices to understand the client’s position in order to support any recommended changes. I would want to explore with him how he sees his role as a consultant possible working in a different environment/ culture and which voices he might see as important.

I see important contexts that might be considered are culture, past experiences and his current role.
